Google Trends: Now Released - Can This Possibly Be Accurate?
May 22nd, 2007
Google has released their newest product: Google Trends. Its a simple product considering the wealth of information Google has at its disposal. What it does is aggregates searches and reports on the most popular searches for the day. Its a cool little product they released but i’m not so sure how accurate the information presented is. For instance lets look at some of todays hot searches:
#2 - “how does a kangaroo keep cool”
#6 - “what part of a graduate’s costume gave the cordon bleu cooking school its name”
#34 - “what did the body of water balboa named el mar de sur or “the south sea ” come to be called”
This is all certainly interesting information but how can these POSSIBLY be the top searches on Google? How many people can possibly be performing these quite weird searches? Is Google messing with us?

That is a genious comment. I would have NEVER thought of that. I still find such weird queries hard to believe to be the top searches.

They are for radio stations. Radio stations have ways to accumulate points in regards for prizes. Ways to accumulate points is by answering trivia. #6 and #34 are both questions in todays trivia.
